FAQ
Frequently asked questions about the platform
What is a dynamic QR code?
A dynamic QR code uses a short redirect link, allowing a saved account QR code to change destination without reprinting. Account dashboard access is required for editing and analytics.
What makes animated GIF QR codes different?
Animated GIF QR codes include a moving background animation that makes them more eye-catching. The added motion is designed to draw more attention than a static code. They work exactly like regular QR codes but stand out in print and digital media.
Is there a free plan?
Yes! Our free plan includes 3 dynamic QR codes, 1,000 scans/month, 1,000 linkpage views/month, and 7 days of analytics history. All QR types, animated GIFs, and no watermarks are included on every plan. Upgrade only when you need more capacity.
What QR code types are supported?
All plans support URL, text, WiFi, vCard (contact), email, SMS, file download, social links, linkpages, and app store links. There are no restrictions on QR types based on your plan—every type is available to everyone.
What analytics can I track?
Analytics are viewed in an account dashboard. History retention is Free 7 days, Creator 30 days, Pro 90 days, and Business 730 days; plan limits also apply.
Can I edit my QR code after printing?
Yes, after saving the QR code to an account. You can change the destination URL without reprinting the QR image.
Do QR codes expire?
Guest QR codes expire after 24 hours. QR codes saved to a registered account persist while the account is active; static QR codes encode their destination directly. Account dashboard analytics remain subject to plan limits.
How can I track QR code scans for free?
Scan logging is built in. Save the QR code to an account to view and manage dashboard analytics; Free includes 1,000 scans/month and 7 days of history.
Are there watermarks on QR codes?
No watermarks on any plan, including free. Your QR codes are clean and professional, ready for commercial use. Your brand stays front and center.
How do I create an animated QR code?
Enter your content (URL, contact info, etc.), search or upload a GIF, and click generate. Your animated QR code renders in seconds. Download it as a GIF for digital use or SVG for high-resolution print.
Do animated QR codes work on all phones?
Yes! Animated GIF QR codes are built to scan reliably on modern smartphones with built-in camera apps and QR scanner apps on iOS, Android, and other platforms. The animation makes them more noticeable while preserving scan quality.
How long do QR codes stay active?
Guest QR codes expire after 24 hours. QR codes saved to a registered account persist while the account is active, subject to the plan-limit and downgrade rules described below. Static QR codes encode their destination directly.
What is the scan limit?
Scan limits vary by plan: Free (1,000/month), Creator (10,000/month), Pro (100,000/month), and Business has a 500,000 monthly soft limit.
Can I use QR codes for commercial purposes?
Absolutely. All QR codes can be used commercially—marketing campaigns, product packaging, business cards, menus, events, and more. No additional licensing required.
Is there an API for developers?
Yes! Pro and Business plans include API access for programmatic QR code creation, management, and analytics. Webhooks are available for real-time scan notifications. Custom domains for short links are also supported.
How is my data protected?
All data is encrypted with SSL, stored securely with enterprise-grade encryption, and delivered via a global edge network. We're GDPR compliant with industry-standard security protocols including rate limiting and fraud protection.
How do I get support?
We provide email support for all users. Send your questions to support@qrcode.ing and our team will respond promptly to help resolve any issues.
What happens to my QR codes if I cancel or downgrade my plan?
Your QR codes are never deleted for being over a plan limit. If you cancel or downgrade, every code keeps redirecting through a 7-day grace period. After that, if you have more dynamic QR codes than your new plan allows, we pause the oldest ones over your limit — scanners see a friendly notice instead of a broken link. If you upgrade again — or free up room under your plan's limit — you can turn any paused code back on from your dashboard.
Why do QR codes from other services stop working after a while?
Some QR code services tie dynamic codes to a trial period or an active paid subscription, so codes can stop redirecting even though the printed image looks identical. On qrcode.ing, a QR code saved to a registered account persists while the account is active and within plan limits; downgrades use the 7-day grace and pause rules described above rather than silently deleting the code.
